Area Description

gametip Gametip: It is too dangerous to rest in these sewers. You may not rest unless otherwise noted.

gametip Gametip: If you have fallen through the floor, you are on the floor prone.

The air in this room is moist and the floor is damp. There is a stong smell of sewage in this room.

As you enter the room, three hideous looking, oversized rats crawl out from a small drain hole at the other end of the room. They hiss and snarl at you. One darts towards to you to attack. As its running toward you, its weight on one of tiles activates some machinery and a large mechanical blade swings across its path, slicing the rat cleanly in half. The top half of the rat lands infront of you; its jaws still snapping at you. There are rat skeletons of varying sizes all over this room.

Encounter

Enemies

a) Dire Rat (MM 219)
b) Dire Rat (MM 219)

Tactics

The attacking rat has made the presence of the trap known to you. Trap is a Pendulum-Scythe trap with only one blade (DMG pg 88). The trap is triggered and will not stop untill disabled or distroyed. A blade crosses the tiles marked on the map once per turn. The control panel for the rat trap is lying on a tile in plain view and is on location of object (1) on the map (the cogs). A Theivery Skill challenge can be started from here. (view DMG pg 88 for other countermeasures).

The rats hiss at you, but will not move forward unless forced to or the trap is disabled. They will also attack an enemy if adjacent.

After Combat

Award XP for trap if you have countered or destroy it. Do not award XP if you have merely avoided it.
